The coaches of Katy Fit have developed a couple of marathon
pace bands (in Excel spreadsheet format) to help you stay on pace during your marathon.
The pace band may be printed out, cut out and wrapped around
your wrist during your marathon so that you can make sure
that you pass each mile marker at the correct splits to stay
on your desired pace.
Most importantly, it incorporates
the idea of a slow warm-up, and negative splits,
so that you start the race slowly and easily, and then pick
up your pace at certain points along
the route. And it's very easy to create your custom pace
band. Just enter your goal time for completing the race,
and the negative split that you'd like to run and the spreadsheet
does the rest.
There are two pace bands available. The standard pace band
shows the mile marker and the cumulative time at that mile marker. The
wider version also shows the split time for each mile. Follow the detailed
directions in each downloaded file. (Note, depending on your operating system
or browser, you may need to hold the control key down while you click this link).

you may also want to have your friends and family download
and print out a copy of
the Katy
Fit
Marathon Support Map. This will help them
figure out how to drive to several different locations along
the
marathon route to meet you and cheer you on!
